Alan M. Schwartz received his Juris Doctor from the University of West Los Angeles School of Law. He also holds a Specialized Certificate of Merit in International Jurisprudence from the McGeorge School of Law.
Mr. Schwartz is President of Asset Management Solutions, LLC, and Alliance Management Solutions, Inc., which manages and develops commercial and residential real estate and oversees a diversified portfolio of stocks, bonds and other investments. Prior to his current business, Mr. Schwartz had a 25-year career in the entertainment industry, focusing on negotiating international television licensing agreements. He was a Talent Agent for the William Morris Agency and ICM (International Creative Management). He was a television broadcaster for the New Zealand Broadcasting Corporation and more recently a co-host of AOL/Time Warner's current affairs cable television show, In The Arena, and utilizes the skills he learned as a media spokesperson for both private & community interests. Mr. Schwartz has extensive experience in economic development. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles/Long Beach World Trade Association and a member of the Los Angeles World Airports Business Council. He served on the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation. Additional former titles include: Chair of the South Bay Economic Development Consortium; Head of the International Business Division of the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce; and President of the South Bay Association of Chambers of Commerce (SBACC) - a regional organization representing the interests of 18 chambers and 10,000 businesses. As Vice-President of Military Affairs for the SBACC, Mr. Schwartz played an instrumental role in the successful lobbying effort to retain the Los Angeles Air Force Base during the first round of base closures. He serves on the Board of Governors of Tel Aviv University, where he is also a member of the International Board of Trustees for The Moshe Dayan Center for Middle Eastern and African Studies and is on the Tel Aviv University American Council Board of Directors, serving as Chair of the Media/Communications Committee. He is also on the Board of Directors of the Pacific Southwest Region of the Anti-Defamation League, and was previously on the Executive Board of the America Israel Political Affairs Committee (AIPAC). He is on the Executive Board of UCLA Live! at Royce Hall, serving as Executive Vice President, and was appointed by then Speaker of the Assembly, Antonio Villaraigosa, to be a trustee of the California State Summer School for the Arts. National and local Public Policy is of great importance to Mr. Schwartz. He has been a member of the Wilson Council of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, D.C. He also participated in the United States Department of Defense's Joint Civilian Orientation Conference (JCOC58) and has current membership in the Defense Orientation Conference Association (D.O.C.A.), which keeps him current on issues of national defense and security. He has been a delegate to the California State Democratic Party. In the area of healthcare Mr. Schwartz is on the Board of Advisors to the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine (Phoenix, AZ) where he is Chair of an $8 million capital campaign to build a school of Environmental Medicine. He is a member of the LA BioMed Collegium and LA BioMed Community Advisory Board at the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. He has been a Trustee of The Little Company of Mary Hospital and on the Community Advisory Board of The Pediatric Therapy Network. Other Boards he is or has been a member of include: The Salvation Army; The Volunteer Center (where he co-chaired a million-dollar Capital Campaign); the California State University at Dominguez Hills School of Management; the Carson/Lomita/Torrance Private Industry Council Board; the MTA Advisory Committee of the Southwest Corridor and the Los Angeles Air Force Base Community Relations board. |
